Agri News : FDI in food processing

Companies working in the food processing sector feels for more investment in farmland for building up infrastructure and providing technology to farmers. Opening up of vegetable and fruit retailing to foreign investments would help farmers get a better price.

Food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that foreign investments in foods, fruits, agriculture and perishable processing will be a huge boost to the sector.

Yogesh Bellani, CEO, Field Fresh Food said that FDI in processing and retailing of fresh fruits and vegetables is a great idea. There is need of investment in the agriculture sector mainly in building infrastructure from cold storage to warehouses, timely and swift processing of the fresh items and ensuring remunerative prices to consumers.
