“Koi Evaluation Session in 2018 Taoyuan Agriculture Expo” is the first koi evaluation activity held in collaboration with Taoyuan City Koi Association and Koi Study Association. It will be held on April 21 (Sat) and April 22 (Sun) at the Koi Garden in Taoyuan Agriculture Expo. With vivid and bright color, the champion koi, koi lovers’ favorite, with the length of 86cm (the largest) will be displayed there. There are also different kinds of koi, such as the red and white ones, Taisho tri-color ones, and the Showa tri-color species – “gems in water” is introduced to people for the first time, manifesting the elegance and spiritual beauty of these creatures.
This Agriculture Expo is very special. With the help of Taiwan Koi Development Association and Taoyuan Koi Studies Association, a professional koi evaluation session will be held in the Koi Garden. Similar to a koi beauty contest, many pretty koi are invited to participate in this event so that people can have the chance to see the charm of these “gems in water.” It is hoped that by sponsoring koi evaluation, the hard works of the koi cultivating industry in Xinwu, Taoyuan will be displayed in front of visitors. Now, in the improvement of species and rearing of koi, Taoyuan has made great progress, approaching a first-rate world standard. It is hoped that with the successful presentation of this event, fish farmers can promote the rearing of koi to the general public. It can not only bring funs to daily life but also cultivate one’s personality. Likewise, more and more people will have the intention of keeping koi.
In Taiwan, Taoyuan is the earliest place and the location with the highest density of koi cultivation. Especially, in Xinwu and Guanyin, there are plenty of cultivation sites. Therefore, Taoyuan is the origin of koi rearing in Taiwan. There are also many local koi lovers and farmers, cultivating many pretty koi. To promote Taoyuan’s koi industry, a Koi theme park is added to this year’s Taoyuan Agriculture Expo. It is hoped that with the holding of this expo, Taoyuan can promote its koi farming industry to the world to enhance the sustainability and promote the diversity of this industry to the world.
