Agreement to conduct training programs for agriculture and allied sectors

New Delhi: The ministries of agriculture and skill development signed an agreement to conduct training programs for agriculture and allied sectors at 690 Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the country.

“We have entered an MoU with the skill development ministry to intensify the pace of skill development in 690 Krishi Vikas Kendras country-wide by training agricultural workforce,” agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh said.

The minister said due to the low presence of agro-based industries in rural areas, it is important to increase the ratio of self-employment to employment to 100%.

He said there is a need to study the skill gap analysis in agriculture sector by the Agriculture Skill Council of India.

The minister added that the government believes that agriculture must be developed as a private enterprise so that it attracts more youth.
