PAU signs MoA with German institutes for research

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) entered into a trilateral agreement with Industrieprojekt GmbH (IPRO) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Germany, for collaborative research in the areas of natural resource management.

The memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed by Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, on behalf of PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon; Dr Kerstin Hartsch, Head, Department of Ecology and Environment, IPRO Consult, Germany; and Unni Krishnan, Senior Policy Advisor, GIZ India.

The agreement would lead to research collaborations and capacity-building in various fields of natural resource management, said Dr SS Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture and Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management), PAU.

In the first phase of agreement, Dr Manmohanjit Singh, Director of PAU’s Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri, was awarded a research project entitled ‘Planning of decentralised erosion prevention for selected rainwater retention measures in Punjab, India, under the aspect of the adjustment to climate change’ for two years with the funding from GIZ and IPRO.
