Bengaluru: Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy launched the web-based fertilizer recommendation system through STCR approach coupling with geo-referenced soil fertility maps of Tumkur district during Krishi Mela held at UAS, GKVK, Bangalore on 18th November 2018.

Shri N.H. Shivashankar Reddy, Minister of Agriculture, Shri Krishna Byregowda, Honourable Minister of Rural & Panchayat Raj, Karnataka and Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Vice Chancellor, UAS, Bangalore also graced the occassion.

This website is developed by AICRP on STCR, Bangalore Centre in coordination with Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) Tumkur”.

The online fertilizer recommendation through STCR approach is unique in the sense that this has coupling with geo-referenced soil fertility maps. Farmers will easily get the fertility status of their land just by entering the geo-coordinates of their land which is now available in all smart/ android phones (GPS app) which are commonly used by the farmers.

This software has provision to provide nutrient recommendation based on LMH/STL approach in addition to STCR approach. This software gives fertility status of the soil even up to 100 m distance throughout the district wherever geo-referenced maps are available and thus save the time and cost required for frequent soil sampling and analysis.

It’s a dynamic software with provision of fine-tuning the software for more accuracy by addition of more number of soil analytical data obtained under Soil Health Card Scheme for each district. This framework of this software can be utilized for all the districts of the country for fertilizer recommendation based on STCR targeted yield approach by using all the STCR targeted yield equations developed in each state in coordination with premier institute of soil science, the ICAR-IISS, Bhopal.
