HYDERABAD: At the inauguration of ‘Dairy show’ South India’s largest dairy farming event, at the Hitex in Hyderabad, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy give speech to motivate unemployed youth in the state. He said that Animal Husbandry department will soon create more employment opportunities. Also, one lakh DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) women will be given two buffaloes each for livelihood.

He further said “Through the Animal Husbandry Department, we are going to create more job opportunities for the youth and both the youth and dairy industry will be benefited, by this. We are also planning to give two buffaloes each to DWCRA women through Streenidhi Telangana Credit Cooperative Federation along with 70 pc subsidy on grass seeds.”

Welcoming the minister’s announcement farmers said the move will attract more people into farming. “When they can give free power to agriculture, why can’t it be given to dairy farmers? Dairy is as important as agriculture and it is government’s duty to support us, so that more people will engage in dairy farming,”

Replying to the dairy farmers demand for free power, the agriculture minister said the government will soon come up with a decision.

“The highlight of the fourth edition of Dairy Show is the showcasing of a plethora of indigenous and exotic breeds of buffaloes and cows. Our main objective is to educate dairy farmers and dairy entrepreneurs on the latest trends and technologies. There is no need for them to go to different places to learn different technologies, they can learn everything here under the same roof,” said K Bal Reddy, general secretary, Progressive Diary Farmers Association said.

Nearly 100 exhibitors participated in the show and showcased high yielding animal breeds, indigenous breeds, mechanised milking equipment, equipment for animal farms, cleaning and hygiene equipment, farm level storage and processing equipment, kits, animal feed, vaccines, banking as well as insurance, Government schemes, cold chain & chilling plants, and dairy equipment and supplies. IThe Dairy Show is a three day event and will end on Monday.
