Breeding of cow/buffalo by artificial method is known as Artificial breeding. In this method semen is collected from the breeding bulls by a scientific method, it is diluted evaluated and packed in single doses. Semen nowadays is preserved (after processing) in Liquid Nitrogen. Its temperature id 196 0 c (Two hundred times cooler than that of the ice). Such semen is known as Frozen semen. Such special double jacked containers of different sixes are now available for storage of liquid nitrogen and frozen semen doses. Frozen semen has certain district advantages. It can remain viable for years. ( 30-50 years). It can be transported from one country to another. Best Bulls semen can thus be used even after death of the Bull. In Artificial Insemination, from the single ejaculate of the bull, 100 to 300 doses of semen can be obtained. One dose sufficient for making one cow/buffalo pregnant. When a cow/buffalo is in Oestrous, the semen is deposited by a long thin tube into uterus. This is known as artificial insemination.
