Changing market trends of vegetables

The data from Mumbai and New Delhi market reported that the principal wholesale markets, including the retail outlets in the country were closed on account of crimes being perpetrated on Amarnath pilgrims. Most of the upcountry mandies also remained closed. In Delhi, ginger prices flared up in view of only ° truck arrivals to Azadpur mandi and no commencement form Nepal. Prices shot up from Rs. 150/200 per 60kg. Siliguri Patla Panja No.1 was traded at Rs.1,200/1,300 and thick one at Rs. 1,300/1,400 per 60 kg, as reported by market sources.

Excess inflow in potatoes to the tune of 50/52 trucks, pressured prices downward by Rs. 10/20 per box. Bangalore 28kg box was quoted at Rs.170/200, Mumbai Rs. 170/180 and Solan 15kg box at Rs.70/80. Potatoes saw 110/115 new truck arrivals and 50 truckloads of stock subdued the sentiment, but quality potato remained in demand. Phool garlic fell by Rs.50 to Rs.400/450 per maund, as reported.
