According to the final estimates for the current year the total oilseeds production has declined by 16 % to 21.18m tonnes in ‘99-00 against 25.21m tonnes in the previous year. State agriculture statistics authorities, shows that though foodrains output at 205.91m tonnes was a record one during ‘99-00, groundnut production in the fiscal has fallen by a sharp 38.8 % to 5.61m tonnes compared to 9.17m tonnes in ‘98-99. The production fall in case of rapeseed and mustard was not that steep as it declined only by 1.9% to 5.67m tonnes during the reference period, an official release said. Soyabean production also dipped by 1.4% to 6.84m tonnes in the fiscal ended March 31, ’00 as reported by authorities. |
