China is increasing its rice production and will remain a net exporter after it joins the World Trade Organization. It is forecasted that china will produce 140.75mt of rice in ’05. The projected output, based on policy analysis and a simulation model, would make china not only self-sufficient but also maintain its role as a net rice exporters,. China produced about 139 mt of rice in ’99, according to estimates by the US agricultural attache in Beijing.
