Export demand lifts chilli prices in AP

Prices of chillies at the Guntur market in Andhra Pradesh, the largest chillies market in Asia, have improved in the last one week or so. This has been due to the twin factors of an increase in demand from exporters coupled with an intervention By the Andhra Pradesh Markfed in the market. The prices have moved up to Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,800 a quintal this week depending on the variety and their pungency, despite the arrivals into the market going up to 70,000 to 80,000 bags per day from the earlier arrival of 30,000 to 40,000 bags per day.
