Rise in export of seafood products by 28%

Market sources reported that India’s export of seafood products has registered a rise of 5.2 % over the previous year’s level of 63,593 tonnes, the exports stood at 66917 tonnes in the first three months of the current fiscal, whereas 28.2% rise in value terms.

India presently exports value added items like Individual Quick Frozen (IQF), cultured shrimp, battered shrimp, cooked shrimp, fish fillet, surimi, live fish, etc.

A target of US $ 1350 million has been fixed for the last year.

For the period of last year it showed a negative growth of 19.75% in quantity terms, 8.18% increase in value in rupee terms and negative growth of 5.17% in dollar terms.
