The export of silk products like silk goods, silk yarn and silk waste of India have increased for the year 99-00. It was reported that there is increase of 16.6 %in terms of dollar over the previous financial. The data issued from the Central Silk Board (CSB), silk products exports for 99-00 aggregated $346.43 m (as compared to 287.04 m for 98-99). Exports of silk goods accounted for almost $326m ($325.87m). Western Europe accounted for almost 43% (42.8%) of Indias silk good exports, followed by the US. The bulk of the shipments were certified exports, which did not come under the 100 % EOU category of exports. In dollar terms, 99-00 saw a 19.6% increase in the certified export realizations not under 100% EOUs. Certified exports of silk goods accounted for almost the entire shipments in this category, increasing 19.9 % through realizations of $285.93m. As reported by the Benglore bureau. |
