Minimum support prizes of jute

Minimum support prices (MSP)of all types of jute and mesta has fixed for various up-country markets in different jute/mesta growing states for’00-01 season on the basis of the MSP of Rs 785 per quintal for Assam TD-5 grade of raw jute already declared by the Union government for the season.

 In other words, MSPs for the next jute season beginning July 1, this year are higher by Rs 41 per quintal compared to previous season’s Rs 744 for W-5 and Rs 794 for TD-5.

Accordingly, the area wise MSPs for standard W-5 and TD-5 grades of jute for the season have been fixed at Rs 785 per quintal and Rs 835 per quintal respectively for Murshidabad, Bankura and Birbhum districts while W-5 and TD-5 grade grown in Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling districts will fetch MSPs of Rs 760 and Rs 810 per quintal.

For north and south Dinajpur and malda districts minimum prices per quintal are fixed at Rs 773 for W-5 and Rs 823 for TD-5 while jute growers in Nadia, Midnapore, Burdwan, 24 Paraganas (north and south), Hoogly and Howrah districts are assured of MSPs at Rs 798 per quintal for W-5 and Rs 848 per quintal for TD-5 grade, reported from Calcutta market bureau.
