Poultry farmers in crisis The poultry farmers in India have protested against the wholesale prices of eggs. Because in the last few weeks the prices have dropped down from Rs.154 per hundred to Rs. 98 per hundred. According to the retail markets report, the prices of eggs have gone down from Rs. 19 a dozen to Rs.16 a dozen. The protest was held by the major egg surplus states which eater to the entire countrys egg consumption agitating poultry farmers and hatcheries. These states are Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab and Hariyana. Punjab alone produces 2.37 billion eggs annually. |
