World coffee exports in March 2000 are down 8 per cent on the year at 7.6 million (60-kilogram) bags, said the International Coffee Organisation on Thursday. Brazilian exports were down 49 per cent on March 99 at 1.2 million bags, which contributed to an overall decline of 45 per cent in Brazilian naturals, which include coffee from Brazil, Ethiopia and Paraguay, to 1.4 million bags. Brazilian exports from October 99 to March 00 are 15 per cent down on last years figures. Meanwhile, March robusta exports are up 20 per cent on last year at 2.2 million bags. This takes total roubusta exports from October to March to 12.5 million bags, 22 per cent ahead of last year, it said. Overall world coffee exports from October 99 to March 00 are at 42.7 million bags, up 4.4 per cent on the year, the ICO said. |
