Daily &
periodical maintenance of tractor
Proper maintenance of tractor prolongs the life of machine, reduce the repairing
cost and ensures trouble free working.
Daily and periodical attentions are as follows
After 10 hrs working (daily)
Water
is checked in radiator and battery
Air
pressure in tyre is checked before taking the tractor in the field.
Oil
level in the pump is checked.
Under
dusty condition air precleaner and air cleaner is cleaned daily.
Use
grease to lubricate all points given in the makers handbook.
Fuel
tank is made full in the evening after the work is over.
Check
if all the nuts and bolts.
After 60 hrs of working (weekly)
Check
the oil level in the gearbox and in the differential housing and if required top up the
oil.
Check
the fan belt tension of the tractor.
Tighten
the battery and starting motor terminals.
Clean
the fuel filters of the tractor.
Clean
the spark plugs.
Examine
the oil level in the oil cleaner and if dirty change the oil.
Replenish
the grease in the water pump. Some hard grease should be used.
Clean
the sediment bowl of the fuel line.
When
the tractor is new oil is changed at 60 hrs period and later 120 hrs period.
After every 300 working hours (monthly)
Change
the filter element of the tractor if it is explicable.
Check
up the value clearance.
Clean
the injectors and adjust the injection pressure on injector testing machine.
Tighten
the cylinder heads.
Put the
grease in the D.C. generator ball bearing.
Check
the carbon, brush the assembly and commutator of the D.C. generator.
After 720 working hours
Transmission
oil is changed.
Front
and rear wheel axle bearing are washed and repacked.
Flush
the cooling system thoroughly.
Reverse
the front wheel types on their rims to ensure uniform wear.
Flush
the fuel fank.
After 1000 hrs of working (after 6 months)
Replace
the fuel filters.
From
the trained mechanic get the following works done - remove cylinder heads, decarbonize
piston top and combustion chamber, clean carbon deposits from inlet and exhaust ports and
cylinder head, check the brushes of the starter motor and dynama.
After 2000 hrs of working (annually)
Usually it has been found that under average working conditions, the compression
of the engine goes down after about 4000 hrs (working). The engine becomes unable to
develop full power on an average load conditions. In such case the engine needs
replacement of cylinder liners and piston rings. The valves are refaced, seats are grinded
and bearings are adjusted. Replacement of oil seal, bushings and bearings at required
places become essential. Grinding of crankshaft and can shaft bearing is normally done
after about 800 working hours. |
