Genetically altered Soyabean

GM products are developed by introducing virtually any gene into any organism, including an animal gene into a plant. It was part of a govt. trial. But elsewhere in the world GM crops are already being grown commercially and available in Britain under different brand names.

For GM Products, farmers choose particular seeds which offered the best results and by planting more of them increase their chances of survival. One new type of GM soya was developed using a gene from Brazil nuts. Scientists have been able to remove the property of producing the allergic nut reaction, which some people suffer when they eat peanuts. Many studies have shown that the soya that has been genetically altered to increase its tolerance to herbicides is suitable for food use.
