  Varieties of Citronella grass

Manjusha – This variety has been recently released. It is high yielding variety. But it is not recommended for South India. It is recommended for Gangetic plains and Assam. In assured rainfall areas it gives 400kg oil yield per ha per year.

Mandakani – This variety is recommended for grassland areas. It yields about 300kg oil per ha per year.

Java citronella – It is cultivated in Maharashtra. It is especially recommended for South India. It gives 250 to 300kg oil yield under rainfed conditions and under irrigation conditions 450 to 500kg oil per ha per year. This variety contains 80% alcohol.

Ceylon Citronella – This variety is cultivated in Sri Lanka. It contains 65 to 70% alcohol.
