The Siltap Chemicals Ltd., Mumbai are manufacturing Silpaulin, which is an effective alternative to conventional tarpaulin. The product has many uses in agriculture. It is used for covering green houses, mulch and post harvest seeds. It also serves as fumigation covers, poultry curtains, pond and canal lining, bullock cart covers, tractor trolley covers, floor under lays and so on. Silpaulin is made from cross laminated plastic films is technical collaboration with RPD Rasmueseen Polymer Development Ag of Switzerland. It is light weight. Merely 1/7th the weight of conventional cotton canvas. It has the highest strength to weight ratio among plastic film. A combination of high tensile strength and high elongation makes Silpaulin very flexible. All this makes it is an ideal material for covering odd shaped objects. It is also puncture resistant so it can be used to cover sharp objects without getting damaged. It is waterproof, rot proof and weather proof. It has excellent moisture baring properties. All joints are heat sealed so there is no leakage and seepage. It is unaffected by salt water and is inert to most chemicals, acids and acid fumes. It is treated especially to resist microbial and fungal attacks and UV (ultraviolet) stabilised to enhance its life inspite of outdoor exposure. The product is also available in a range of attractive colours and sizes to suit the customer requirements. |
