Equipment- Egg collection systems
A German multinational manufacturer, The Big Dutchman produces numerous poultry equipment. Their egg collection systems are designed to suit small and big farms.
Big Dutchman manufacturers three different egg collection systems to cater for different layouts and individual variations in the size and design of houses:
- Lift system
- Elevator and
- Multitier collection (on several tiers).
Curve conveyor: The Big Dutchman curve conveyor consists of modular construction units to meet individual requirements. The curve conveyor system can be accommodated in houses at different elevations and can convey eggs over long distances.
The core of the curve conveyor is the galvanized or plastic-laminated conveying chain consisting of two hardened outside chains with weldedon crossbars. The crossbars are arranged on the same level.
I. This allows smooth transfer of eggs to the conveying chain and
II. Prevents accumulation of eggs along the inner radius of curves.
The distance between crossbars allows for ascending gradients up to 20 degree. Standard curve sections are available to construct 180 degree, 90 degree and 45 degree bends.
The height of the conveyor can be set at the required level using adjustable posts. The conveying chain is covered from both sides with a red safety profile. A telescopic unit, which is delivered with a compensator and link components, connect the curve conveyor to the lift system. When connected to the multitier system, the curve conveyor transfers eggs from individual tiers to a single level, usually corresponding to the level of the egg grader and packer.
System Widths: The width of the curve conveyor determines transport capacity. The Multitier system uses the entire width of the curve conveyor. The actual conveying width of elevator and lift is reduced by approx. 80 to 100 mm because of baffles in the egg transfer area. A conveying speed of 6.5 m/min results in the following volumes:
Rod Conveyor: The rod conveyor is used for special installation or in small-scale units. It can only transfer eggs in a straight line.
