SECOND PRIZE Dr.G.B.Singh, Ex-Deputy Director General (NRM), Indian Council of Agricultural Research New Delhi and Dr.Anand Swarup, Project Coordinator (LTFE), Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal for their article on Lessons from Long Term Fertility Experiments published in February 2000 issue of Fertiliser News. THIRD PRIZE Dr. R.L.Yadav, Project Director, Dr. S.S.Pal, Dr. Kamta Prasad and Dr. B.S.Dwivedi, Scientists, Project Directorate for Cropping Systems Research, Modipuram, Meerut for their article on Role of Fertilisers in Cereal Production for Food Security and Balanced Diet published in December 1999 issue of Fertiliser News. FAI SILVER JUBILEE AWARD FOR DOCTORAL RESEARCH IN FERTILISER USAGE-2000 Dr. (Ms.) U.Bagavathi Ammal, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Dr. (Ms.) Ammal worked on "Development and Evaluation of Ecofriendly New Sulphur Based Rock Phosphate Fertilizer." FAI SILVER JUBILEE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR THE BEST WORK DONE IN THE FIELD OF "FERTILISER MANAGEMENT" 2000 Dr.A.K.Srivastava, Scientist SS (Soil Science) and Dr. Shyam Singh, Director, National Research Centre for Citrus, Nagpur. Dr.A.K.Srivastava and Dr.Shyam Singh have done valuable research work on different aspects of crop production technology in general and citrus in particular. Dr.S.V.Keshava Murthy and Dr.S.C.Kotur, Senior Scientists, Dr.B.R.V.Iyengar, Principal Scientist (Retd.) and Dr.T.N.Shivananda, Scientist (SS), Isotope Laboratory, Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore. Dr.S.V.Keshava Murthy and his associates have done valuable research work on development of science based nutrient recommendation for orchard crops for efficient use. TSI-FAI AWARD ON "PLANT NUTRIENT SULPHUR"-2000 Dr. (Ms.) Chitralekha Chatterjee, Professor of Botany, University of Lucknow, and Dr.Ram Sakal, Chief Scientist, Dr.A.P.Singh and Dr. R.B.Sinha, Senior Scientists, Department of Soil Science, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa (Samastipur), Bihar, jointly. Dr. (Ms.) Chatterjee has done valuable research work on induction of S deficiency in 31 different crops to characterize and diagnose S deficiency through visible changes caused by low S and physical responses of plant to variable S supply for working out S concentration for sufficiency and threshold of deficiency. This information is needed for estimation of the S doses for optimizing yield and predicting the quantitative increment of yield. Dr. Sakal and his associates have done valuable research work on status and forms of sulphur in soils of North Bihar and its response in different crops. Their findings indicate that sulphur application improved crop yield and quality. IPI-FAI AWARD ON "EFFECT OF POTASH ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF CROPS"-2000 Dr. R.C.Sharma, Head, Dr. S.P.Trehan, Senior Scientist (Soil Science), Dr. K.C.Sud, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) and Scientist Incharge (Radio Tracer Techniques), Dr. N.C.Upadhayay, Senior Scientist (Soils), Dr. M.C.Sood, Senior Scientist, Dr. S.K.Roy, Scientist (Agronomy) and Dr. J.S.Grewal, Ex-Director, Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla. Dr. R.C.Sharma and his associates have worked on various aspects of potassium including the effect of potassium on potato yield and quality. |
