HOUSEHOLDERS INSURANCE WHAT IS INSURED? Covers against loss/damage to
WHO CAN INSURE? Any householder exposed to any of the above contingencies. Cover under ten sections with option to choose more than four sections for availing discount in premium (Choosing more than four but up to six 15% and choosing more than Six-20%). Cover against contents is compulsory under section 1B. SECTION 1A Building (of class A construction only) SECTION 1B Contents: Belonging to the propose and members of his family permanently residing with him. PERILS COVERED Fire, lightning, acts of God, Riot and Strike, impact, explosion of gas in domestic appliances, overflow of water tanks. PREMIUM RATE Rs. 0.65 paise for every Rs. 1000/- A few losses not covered Loss or damage to documents bonds etc. precious stones, jewellery, cash and valuables. SECTION 2 BURGLARY, HOUSE-BREAKING INCLUDING LARCENY & THEFT This section covers Loss or damage to the contents whilst contained in the insured premises by Burglary and/or Housebreaking including larceny and theft. The sum insured under this section will be the same as the sum insured under section 1B for contents in the building. However, the cover excludes jewellery, Gold and Silver articles, Cash, Bonds and Securities. PREMIUM RATE Rs. 2.40 for every Rs.1000/- of sum insured. A few losses not covered
SECTION 3 ALL RISKS This section covers loss or damage to jewellery and valuables viz.Cameras, trinkets etc. due to accident or misfortune anywhere in India. N.B. it is advisable to give separate sum insured for each item to be insured. PREMINUM RATE: Rupees 10.05 for every Rs. 1000/- of Sum Insured A few losses not covered:
SECTION 4 PLATE GLASS This section covers accidental breakage to fixed plate glass in the insured building. PREMIUM RATE: Rs.10.00 for every Rs. 1000/- of Sum Insured. A few losses not covered:
SECTION 5 BREAKDOWN OF DOMESTIC APPLIANCES This section covers unforeseen and/sudden physical damage caused by and/or slowly due to mechanical and/or electrical breakdown of domestic electrical/electronic or mechanical appliances, apparatuses or gadgets whilst contained in or fixed at the insured premises. Sum Insured: Shall be equal to the cost of replacement of the insured property by new property for the same kind. PREMIUM RATE: Rs. 2.50 for every Rs. 1000/- of Sum Insured. A few losses not covered:
N.B. EXCESS CLAUSE is applicable as per the policy conditions. SECTION 6 TELEVISION SETS: This section covers loss or damage to the television apparatus whilst contained or fixed in the insured premises by fire and allied perils, Burglary and /or Housebreaking or theft, accidental external means and mechanical and electrical breakdown. PREMIUM RATE: Rs. 10.05 for every Rs. 1000/- of Sum Insured. N.B: Television apparatus shall mean and include the television set, the accessories forming part of set and Antenna both external and internal. A few losses not covered:
SECTION 7 PEDAL CYCLE This section covers loss or damage to pedal cycle by fire and allied perils, burglary, theft and accident. 4 legal liability for bodily injury and/or property damage to Third Party is also covered up to a limit of Rs. 10,000 per year. PREMIUM RATE: Rs. 20.05 for every Rs. 1000/- of Sum Insured. A few losses not covered:
SECTION 8 BAGGAGE This section covers loss or damage to the accompanied baggage of the policy holder by accident or misfortune while he is travelling anywhere in India. PREMIUM RATE: Rs. 7.55 for every Rs. 1000/-of Sum Insured. A few losses not covered: Cash or jewellery, travelling tickets, edible articles, etc. losses during routine travel. SECTION 9 PERSONAL ACCIDENT This section covers the policy holders, his/her spouse and children. Persons within the age group of 5 to 70 years can be covered. It covers death, permanent total disablement, permanent partial disablement and temporary total disablement caused by accident. Scope of cover is worldwide though claims are payable in India and in Indian Rupees only. PREMIUM RATE: As per table rate for various benefits chosen. Rate of premium per mille (in rupees)

SECTION 10 PUBLIC LIABILITY This section covers Legal Liability to Third Party for personal injury or property damage upto limit of Rs. 25,000/- per year. It also covers policy holders legal liability to his /her domestic servant as an employer. PREMIUM RATE: Around Rs. 0.50 for every Rs. 1000/- of sum insured. PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE POLICY This insurance, covers accidents caused to the policyholder. Persons within age group of 5 to 70 years can be covered under this insurance. Persons above 70 years can also be covered subject to extra premium and reduction in the benefits. JANATA PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE POLICY The Janata Accident Policy is also a type of personal accident insurance policy. But as the name "Janata" suggest, it is meant for low income group. Capital Sum Insured under a Janata Personal Accident Insurance Policy is Rs. 25,000/- with the following scope of cover.
Premium Rate: Policy can be taken for multiples of Rs. 25,000/- and in which case premium rates given below are to be multiplied accordingly. Policy can be taken for maximum period of 15 years and maximum sum insured of Rs, 10 lakhs. The premium for a Capital Sum insured of Rs. 25,000/- are as follows

MEDICLAIM INSURANCE POLICY Mediclaim Insurance policy covers medical and surgical expenses incurred for impatient treatment in hospitals and nursing homes for illness and injuries. The cover is available for medicines, hospital accommodation, nursing expenses, surgeons and physicians fees and diagnostic expenses incurred within India for treatment of diseases subject to the limit of total sum insured. The sum insured can be selected from a minimum of Rs. 15,000/- to a maximum of Rs. 3.00.000/- The policy also covers Domiciliary Hospitalisation i.e. treatment normally requiring hospitalisation but taken at home under medical approval and advise in view of the patient not being able to be take to the hospital or lack of accommodation in the hospital, subject to the following limits:
Domicilliary Hospitalisation does not cover the following diseases:
The Mediclaim Insurance Policy operates for illness or injuries requiring minimum period of hospitalisation for 24 hours. For Domiciliary hospitalisation, the cover operates for treatment exceeding three days. Premium rate: Premium rate depends upon the age of the policy holder/insured person. The following schedule gives the premium payable for differing total sum insured.
Family Discount Discount of 10% in the total premium will be allowed if the policy holder includes his/ her spouse or dependent children or dependent parents. Cumulative Bonus If the policy is continuously renewed, the total sum insured under the policy will be progressively increases by 5% for every claim free year subject to a maximum accumulation of 10 claim free years. Cost of Health Check-up If the policy is continuously renewed, the policyholder will also be eligible for reimbursement of cost of medical check up at the end of every 4 claim free years, subject to a limit of 1% of the average sum insured for the 4 years. Waiting period for the first years policy There is a waiting period of 30 days i.e. illness occurring and hospitialisation expenses incurred during the 30 days from the date of insurance policy are not covered. Tax Benefits Premium paid for this insurance upto Rs. 10,000/- qualifies for tax benefit under Sec. 80D of Income Tax Act. JAN AROGYA POLICY The Jan Arogya Bima Policy is medical insurance policy catering to the needs of lower income group. The policy covers expenses for in-patient treatment in hospitals and nursing homes for illness and injuries. OVERSEAS MEDICLAIM INSURANCE POLICY Overseas Mediclaim Insurance Policy covers medical expenses incurred while on foreign travel, for business and holidays. The special feature of the policy as a benefits is that premium is payable in Indian Rupees, whilst claimst are payable abroad, in foreign currency.
