Introduction

India has achieved remarkable success in Cotton and okra production, a vegetable which, although it owes its origins to Africa, has now spread worldwide. A specialised crop, originally related to the cotton family of plants, okra is becoming increasingly popular not only in India itself, but also on export markets.
Known also as 'ladies fingers' and 'Bhendi' the quality produced by specialist growers in India has allowed the island to develop its sales on markets abroad.
