New technology in sericulture

Mulberry cultivation is done in the places like Solapur, Nagar, Latur, Parbhani, Aurangabad and Vardha. New intercropping system helps to reduce the water requirement and also the expenditure required on it. To increase the area under mulberry cultivation and to increase production of silk the Mulberry silk training centre, silk fibre training centre, silk fibre spinning centre and Research centre have been developed wherein information with respect of sericulture will be provided. In future centres will be developed at Pune and Aurangabad, which will help to take the cocoons after its production. This year silk Mandal has developed varieties like CAIR Dubar, Mulberry's V-1, S-36, S-54, which will help the farmers to gain more profits. It was also told that government will give seed of mulberry at the rate of Rs 200/ acre. Mulberry crop gives production four times during the year time. It also does not have any adverse effect on the texture of soil. For an acre of land farmers can get Rs. 40,000 while the expenditure is about 20% and hence is beneficial to farmer.
