Qualification Essential:A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or recognized equivalent.
Experience:Five years of veterinary practice experience in large animal or mixed practice setting.
Three years of experience supervising professional staff.
Responsibilities:Provide supervisory oversight and guidance to staff veterinarians in the Animal Health Program. This activity will require monitoring their routine activities in the field setting and their duties under the cooperative agreement work plans, as well as organizing and coordinating their activities in response to specific disease outbreaks and occurrences in the state.

Oversee the initial development and continued review and revision of various foreign animal disease response plans. The position will participate with staff veterinarians and program support staff in livestock disease response and control efforts in the field as required.

Coordinate and organize regular communication between the State Veterinarian's Office and the veterinary and program support staff. The position will develop and maintain the practice of regular conference calls and meetings in order to promote a proactive and professional level of communication between all members of the Animal Health Program.

Oversee the bovine tuberculosis and brucellosis programs in the state. Applies a strong level of awareness of state and federal laws, rules, protocols, and standards pertaining to livestock health and livestock movement.
